A Review of I can’t Said the Ant
Author and Illustrator: Polly Cameron
Recommended reader age: 1-9
This is a fun – and funny – rhyming book about an ant and a fleet of spiders who help a fallen teapot, cheered on by the rest of the kitchen. It is downright fun to read:
“Co-operate”, said the plate.
“Don’t rock,” said the clock.
“Don’t break her,” said the shaker,
“I can’t look,” said the book.
“Aren’t they smart,” said the tart.
“It’s a breeze,” said the cheese.
The kids love the rhythm and the illustrations. Unfortunately this book is out of print, but it’s such a fun and memorable one it’s worth trying to find a used copy.
